- Arrive alone at a touristy restaurant before the core of the group, so you have to look up each time the door opens to see if anyone looks even vaguely familiar. Instantly gives the "loser" appearance to the other patrons.
- Sit in the verbal line of fire between MiKell and Sorted. Though it is admittedly an entertaining place to be.
- Sit between the two camera-holders. MiKell claims I can't take a bad picture, but Lewis' camera managed to catch my usual pose: eyes squinting (or closed) when I smile. Oy.
- Revert to the inner shy nerd in the presence of all the cool, really good-looking kids. (GRIN)
- Overdress. MiKell at least had a golf shirt on. I came directly from work, so was in full business drag (no necktie).
- Drink every drop of margarita placed in front of you.
- Wait more than 48 hours to post something — anything — to recap the event.
So, most of the story's been told alrady by the others present: Lewis (of Spirit of Saint Lewis), Sorted (Sorted Lives), MiKell (I Deal With It), Kevin (actorschmactor) and Mike (.ALT>MIKE). Even though Kevin thinks I looked scared, I had a blast. I'd love to see any or all of these guys out and about again sometime. And I look forward to seeing Spider when he's able to be out and about, too.
One thing I did learn: I have a lot more daily reading to keep up with.
It never fails to amaze me how six guys who really only know each other through the blogosphere can have a great time out together. (Well, OK, I kinda-sorta knew Sorted, but not by name, and only in passing.) The one other time I met a blogger after reading their site, it was Dewayne, just over 5 years ago. Of course, maybe it's the blogging bit that made the conversation flow so well — we've seen just a glimpse into the minds of each other. That, or the now-famous $87 worth of margaritas.
Yeah, right, sure you're shy.....we won't tell, now, will we. I couldn't have picked a nicer guy to sit next to (don't tell the other kids, please...the jealousy can get out of hand). I would like to see you post more...but, hey, that's the cool thing about blogging.....when the "shy" ones speak, we all listen! But, seriously, next time...maybe dress down just a little....and bring the honey along too...no need to keep all of the craziness to yourelf. So very cool meeting you!
ReplyDeleteIt was great finally getting to meet you too!! I look forward to another outing anc "come to brunch"

ReplyDeleteRight? I agree completely! Great meeting you and I look forward to the repeat...
Trust me when I say you didn't take a bad picture. You should see some of the ones I got of Sorted that I didn't publish. Woofda!
ReplyDeleteIf I wear a tie to work, people ask if I'm leaving early for a "doctor appointment" - complete with little air quotes.
So EVERYONE is slamming me for wearing a tie? I wore jeans! C'mon!
ReplyDeleteSheesh ... tough crowd.
And I'm guilty of at least 6 & 7 too.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! As I've said to others, I'm bummed I missed it, but glad y'all had fun.
ReplyDeleteSounds like everyone had a great time! I worked until 8:30 that night and then went to a friends house for a housewarming party. I had to go since I missed her xmas party and she was going to be upset with me for not coming. It was fun but I would have had a better time with all of you!
ReplyDeleteNext time Lewis can come back to town we need to plan a day at Disney and then dinner! yeah!
