Don't Have A Cow, Man

Orlando — and, by extension, Orange County — attempts to be very cosmopolitan. And yet, for every Windermere there's a Bithlo just waiting to be included.

Case in point: this morning's commute. Turning onto my second-of-three country roads, I saw an Orange County Sheriff's vehicle parked with lights flashing. My instinct was, "what fool got caught speeding?" What the deputy was actually watching, though, was a large, black member of the bovine family, calmly grazing across the street (and most notably) outside the apparently undamaged barbed-wire fence from its peers. So the deputy was apparently there, enjoying a morning cigarette, to make sure no one rounded the corner too fast and struck said beast.

Metropolitan, indeed.
