Each day around noon, I get a useless-news message on my pager (known to the sending organization as "On The Lighter Side"). Usually I skim through it and delete, but today, the name of my hometown appeared mid-message and caught my attention.
LOCKED SAFE: Experts at the Safe & Vault Technicians Convention in Reno, Nevada, will get a chance this week to try to open a bank vault thats been locked for decades. A "cannonball" safe has been sent to the convention from a museum in Medford, Oregon. The round top safe had been in the one-time bank building that now houses the Eagle Point Museum. Museum officials have no idea whats in their vaultI found the article on the web here. Now, ignore for the moment that the Eagle Point Museum might be near Medford, but certainly not in Medford. The confuser for me is that the Museum, located about 20 miles from my childhood home, appears to have once been a schoolhouse, but not a bank.
