Merriment and Such
We hosted our second (in two years, and nearly on the same day) barbecue at Chez Dan on Saturday. Very much fun, and the rains even held off for the duration of the cooking. (Whew!) Dewayne has even already blogged about it. Had it not been so dark and rainy when he left, he probably would have noticed the brief loop into Polk County on his return trip.
Sunday brought about church (Dan went too — and no lightning bolts!) and Panera, as well as yet another trip to the 'Moon. It was obviously the first non-rainy Sunday in quite some time, as the outdoor deck was very busy. By the time it began to get dark, I was already <ahem> feeling no pain, and dancin' like a fool. On a regular Thursday at PI, I'm usually the one who wants/needs to leave first. On Sundays my travelling companions are draggin' me to the door. The irony is not lost on me.
This morning, I was the designated "bring the Krispy Kremes" guy for a breakfast meeting. I bought a dozen of the tasty treats, "plus one for the driver," as I told the hostess. Unfortunately, they had run out of $1 bills, so I got $3 of my change back in quarters. "But if you collect, they're the new ones," I was told. And indeed, I now have lots of Louisiana (Philly mint) quarters on hand. (I had just managed to get my first two Ohios over the weekend.)
