Had a fun weekend; spent the Fourth with friends (new and old) at a pool-side barbeque, followed by drinks and merriment at the 'Moon...
Friday saw dinner with Dan, Daniel, and Bj at the Lake Eola Yacht Club (or LEYC, which rhymes either with EEK or ECK, depending on whom you ask), very tasty...
Did little-to-nothing all weekend beyond that...
Went to see Men In Black II on Saturday afternoon, pleasant diversion...
What is this, the "Year of the Porn Star" or something? In January we met the local celebrity heretofore known as "The Jaw," and Thursday night, I learn that a former work-acquaintance moonlights in the industry — and shares a stage last-name with "The Jaw," no less. First, I meet one, then it turns out I already know one. What will be up for Part Three, I wonder...
In the category of "most adorable new purchase," I have the talking, interactive Stitch (from Disney's Lilo & Stitch) plush. It's preprogrammed to respond to specific verbal cues. Even better, its responses change whether it is in a "good mood" or a "rotten mood." What's not to like about something that's cute and cuddly, and always responds to "I love you" with a gentle "I love you, too"? If course, it also delivers one of the film's most ironic lines: "Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind, or forgotten." Ah, yes, I remember the days when my company used to profess a sense of internal family — only now we leave people left behind in ever-increasing numbers. Maybe the execs need this toy no hand to remind them...
Dewayne and I agree, every-day rain was acceptable for the first week, but as we enter Week Four, rain can be on the "over it" list again...
Also on the "over it" list for me: getting up before
