Culture on a Saturday

Spent Saturday evening downtown watching the Camerata Chorus Farewell Concert, as suggested (and performed in!) by Bj (naturally). A very pleasant evening — nowhere near as much pure opera as my travelling companion Dan might have feared — and I never knew Orlando had such a lovely cathedral anywhere in town. The Camerata presented a wide range of musical styles, including a parody of opera, a scene from Carmen, a medley from Andrew Lloyd Weber's Phantom of the Opera, a couple of patriotic tunes, and two spirituals. Very pleasant. My only regret: not taking a camera, so I could have captured a shot of Bj during the Carmen "Cigarette Chorus." Back to the audience, face in profile, and a cigarette at arm's length. Very glam, very world-weary, very diva.
