A Fine Morning Out

It's clearly the last day of the month. On my way to work today, I saw at least 15 different police-type vehicles along US 192 Westbound (I was headed east), in a speed-trap sting operation. Three officers were on top of an overpass, radioing ahead to the others below. I hope there were no other crimes occurring in Osceola County this morning, because it looked like every on-duty Sherriff and deputy was there — I even saw one from St. Cloud. Can you say "quota?"

This stretch is "safe" to do this on in the morning, because all the tourists are either headed eastbound (like I was) to the theme parks, or else have already turned off the highway to head into Disney. I'd say there's a 99% chance that anyone travelling west on this stretch of US 192 is a local. Writing tickets to locals is better business. You don't offend a future resort-tax-paying tourist, and as a local you have more "teeth" in collecting the fine.
