...Where The Medium Determines the Message

medium: adjective intermediate in quantity, quality, position, size, or degree.
intermediate: adjective being or occurring at the middle place, stage, or degree or between extremes.
As of late, there has been much press regarding the "super-sizing of America," and how there just might be a correlation between our fast-food culture and our fattening populace. (duh.)

Amid this bad publicity, I've been surprised to find the local outlet of two of my fast-food favorites, Wendy's and Burger King, have dropped "small" fries from their menus. Ask for small, get a "medium," at the medium price.

Now, it's actually quite likely that the "medium" is actually yesterday's "small" at today's "medium" price. But the very name implies that there should be something smaller. If they're going to drop the small, at least call the now-default size "regular."
