Getting Down on the Upside

Just call me Moving Boy. No sooner do I get settled into the new office digs, than they tell me I'm going to be working out of a "bullpen" halfway across town. (A bullpen is, in our speak, a conference room with computers set up all around it, to be used when "major initiatives" might require a lot of focused effort.)

Despite the lack of cafeteria, credit union, or other services, I was going to learn to like SunTrust (darn it!) because of the presence of a real office (with window and door). The new space is cramped, overly warm, and windowless, not to mention 10 miles further toward downtown than my office. The only upside I can find on this one is that there is a Starbucks between house and desk.

This is not the type of situation that inspires one to want to get up for work every morning, other than the desire to not be unemployed.
