The Expressway Authority Is Watching

OK, This makes me nervous. (In case the link dies, they are putting devices all over Orlando to track movement of cars with ePass — our local electronic toll-collection system — on non-toll roads, to improve traffic reporting.) It was bad enough when someone realized they could, by averages and such, determine how fast you were driving between toll booths. Now they can track where you're going all over town. Even if it works, as they say, by having"A computer ... assign your E-PASS a number to keep someone from tracking a person by name and the data is erased within minutes of being stored," I say it's creepy.

  1. Well I guess I'm glad that the velcro provided by Epass to affix the transponder to my windshield fails after about a month. The Epass lives in the glove box where it is probably unreadable, only to emerge when I drive on toll roads. -- Bj
