Then They Tell Two Friends, and So On, And So On

One of the "spinning" instructors at my gym loves to blast the music, with both Cycling Studio doors propped open (presumably for better air flow). I have no issues with loud music while working out — any inspiration to get you there — but her music choices are often so loud they drown out the music in my own headphones, on the next floor down from her studio.

So today, I'm on the treadmill, listening to Josh Groban's Closer on my iPod, and I hear her class start up. "Hmm," I think, "I haven't heard a dance mix of Lara Fabian's 'I Am Who I Am' in forever —not since I put it on a mix CD two years ago." Minor audio déjà vu moment when the next track comes on: remix of Enrique Iglesias' "Escape," which is track 2 of the same CD. Have a full-out OMG moment when that is followed by track 3: dance remix of Anastacia and "One Day In Your Life." She is playing a copy of my CD! As I recall, one of Brian C's friends is an aerobics instructor at the gym — she must have burned off a copy.

I've had my CD played for groups before, but always parties where the hosts were good friends. It was far more bizarre to have it be publicly played at my gym. Of course, she must have chosen it because of the fabulous job I did at picking and mixing the beat. <wink>

  1. Why is spinning in quotes?
    I recommend this book:

  2. Well, my gym doesn't call the group-stationary-cycling thing "spinning," because (thank you, Bj) Spinning® is a registered trademark, and my gym doesn't buy their programming. So technically, the name of the class is "Cycle." I've also found the name funny — to me, spinning is something one either does with yarn, or while remaining in one place to make one's self dizzy — so it was more of a sarcasm (thank you again, Bj) thing, I guess.
