Over It List: Hurricane Frances Edition

Done it before, but:
  • Hurricanes
  • Specifically, Frances
  • Anticipating Ivan

Shorter list this time. Fortunately, this time I'm riding it out in as much of a lap-of-luxury as I can. My company has put us up in a hotel room on-site (and from here the storm looks like a Nor'easter!), so I'm closer in and ready to come in as soon as the winds die down. We covered electronics with plastic, unplugged everything, and locked up. Of course, when I left work last night at 7, the plan was to go back to work at 10 on Sunday morning. Now, that looks like it will be when the eye comes right by here. Looks more like 10 on Sunday NIGHT.

Thanks to all for well-wishes through it all. I'm paying for wireless access in the hotel lobby so I could check mail and write here — at least as long as the hotel has power and they let me sit in the (glass-enclosed) lobby.

At this point during Charley, Dan was looking for tranquilizers to calm me down. This time I'm much more calm (so far), but partly because I'm just mentally burned out. It takes Tylenol PM to get sleep, but it's a small price to pay.

  2. No kidding... 10:15 at night and the eye has just hit shore... and it's just barely started raining for "real" here... although we may look back on this part with fond memories of how peaceful things used to be...?
