I noticed something blue on our front door yesterday morning (we always use the garage), so when I got home, I went out to remove it. A random housecleaning ad, taped to the deadbolt — but there was also a yellow note from the water utility tucked under the handle. Seems they're doing some more pipe upgrades, which will require "intermittent interruptions in service" during the wee morning hours next Tuesday.
This will be accompanied, of course, by the usual precautionary boil-water alert for three days following.
Doing the math, that means that we will have been unable to drink the water from the tap for 13 days out of 65 or so, beginning with Charley. (This number includes the day where we had NO water, as well as four, three-day boil-water cycles.) 20% of the days in a 2 month stretch, no drinkable water.
Well, at least we never did lose electricity that whole time (knock on wood, rinse-lather-repeat) like all those city folk.
