Things That Go Bump In The...

I've been looking forward to our scheduled cruise (see here and here and here and here, for example). This week, I'm trying to tone down my anticipation. See, we are going on a really cheap "Space Available" rate for employees. We aren't actually guaranteed to sail — if they can sell the space at full price to a real customer, they will. Normally, this hasn't really been a concern, and I had never heard of someone actually getting bumped from their space.

Last week, though, I noticed that there were no space-available cruise dates listed, now or in the future. And last night, I talked to someone who actually works at the cruise division, and he has been bumped from this weekend's cruise; he also told me the ship is actually oversold by a couple of cabins. Translation: Fasten your seatbelts, it could be a bump-y weekend.

  1. Sorry to hear. But look on the bright side: that's a chunk of money you still have to still spend. Plan a different vacation or future cruise. :-)
