Normally, I drink Diet Coke. Lots and lots of Diet Coke, actually. In the year since they've been running their "1-in-12 wins a free Coke" promotion, I think I've won three times (and one of those I threw away unwittingly, out of sheer habit). Of those three, I only bought one; the others were served at meetings or other functions. My actual odds of winning have been somewhere closer to 1-in-25 or worse.
Compare this with last year about this time, when Apple and Pepsi rolled out a promotion where you could win free iTunes downloads from Pepsi bottles — and it was a far more reasonable 1-in-3 odds. My own odds were closer to 2-in-3, and there was much rejoicing. And downloading.
Glory be: It's back. And I already have my first free-song credit waiting for my use.
and I got my first one today too :-)
ReplyDeletehey I won the 1 in 12 wins from coke, after 2 buys of 12oz bottles. do the math.
ReplyDeleteA 50% win-rate in the Coke promotion is by far the best I've heard. I'd quit while you're ahead.
ReplyDeleteThe lucky "winner" gets a free 1 liter coke product, but must redeem the cap at a "participating vendor". Good luck finding someone who sells 1 liter bottles of coke AND is willing to take the winning cap. Clever scam.
