Let's see if I can sneak one more in:
Everyone's ga-ga over the latest hurricane forecast from famed Dr. Gray. He's predicting "only" 17 named storms for 2006, with 9 of those being hurricanes, and 5 of those being intense (i.e., Category 3-5). I keep hearing how this means it will be a busy season, but not as busy as last year.
What folks have forgotten is his December 2004 forecast for this year, which predicted 11 named storms (we had 26), 6 hurricanes (we had 14) and 3 intense hurricanes (we had 7).
I bet the weather bookies made a mint this past year. I'm to the point where I don't even listen to what the "experts" are predicting, because hurricanes are unpredicatable, even when we can see them on radar.
ReplyDeleteI want to be a weatherperson of somesorts when I grow up! The only job in the world where you can be wrong 75% of the time and people STILL listen to you!
