Home Invasion

I feel violated.

Last Thursday night, a little before 8:00, our home phone rang. We decided to screen the call, since just about anyone who knows us would have called my cell phone at that hour.

It turned out to be an auto-dialed, pre-recorded message encouraging us to add our names to the petition to ban same-sex marriage in Florida. There was no one to talk to, no way to demand they never call our home agian, no one to tell that they reached a same-sex household, just a "press one to add your name."

So, you'll understand when I tell you that yesterday, when our doorbell rang about 10:30 in the morning, followed by the phone ringing and someone knocking at the door... I felt like shrinking into the corner and hiding. Again, I think anyone who actually knew me would have called on my cell before showing up.
