M was a gym acquaintance, who, it turns out, is a best-friend of former coworker S. And, I found out later, ex-partner of fellow Chorister J. M moved back west a while back, but is still in town now and again.
This past weekend was one of the trips-to-Florida, where he apparently spent time with G. G (in telling the story) also relayed that he'd dined with S (of the group once known as the JB) and K.
All I could say on reflecting on this list was, "thank God I've never slept with any of 'em."
Geekier Than Thou? All the cool kids were doing it, and I delayed only because my response is so darn geeky. Geekier than even I like to think I am. But, nonetheless, here ya go (and I can't blame it on being at work):
Here are the rules:Which gives us:
- Grab the nearest book
- Open the book to page 123
- Find the fifth sentence
- Post the text of the next 3 sentences (#5,6,7) on your blog, along with these instructions.
- Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it. Just grab what is closest. No cheating.
Before you buy a book, read through parts of it. Does the style (brief or lots of detail, chatty and friendly or organized as a reference) fit your needs? Search the Internet for reviews; online bookstores may have readers' comments on file. This, from Learning Unix for Mac OS X, which just barely has 123 pages before the Appendices.
Like I said: pretty darn geeky.
That's one crazy alphabet soup going on there. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd don't feel bad, my book was computer stuff, also.
