Air, Sea and …

Best news of the week (selfishly): Delta reaches deal with pilots. Considering our much-anticipated, much-needed vacation to SF, which starts in a mere 21 days, is on Delta and uses frequent-flyer miles, I was bracing for "what do we do now"-ing very soon.

I may have been one of the few folks who hated Titanic. All I could think was, "sink the dang boat already." But this… this is sick, twisted, and funny. Not as good as all the Brokeback takeoffs, but, still.

I learned this week that I make a lousy nurse. And that Dan is an equally lousy patient. And that food poisoning is ugly business. But the week also made me contemplate how much of our life is lived on a thin sheet of sanity, and the slightest puncture in that veneer could grow to rip a life apart. As fast as we move through this life, speed bumps can be deadly. (No worries, nothing that drastic happened. Just me left alone with my thoughts on a sleepless night, listening for signs of life or lack thereof from a partner. Who says I don't have a flair for the dramatic?)

  1. The Titanic thing was great! And I know how food poisoning can be. It's never a pleasant experience. The first place I ever got it? The cafeteria at the Magic Kingdom.
