One other SF anecdote I almost forgot:
Maybe it's because it's the site of the Apple-sponsored and -endorsed conventions and gatherings. Maybe it's because it's so close to the mothership itself. But I never imagined quite how ubiquitous the iPod truly is. Billboards, everywhere. Along the freeways, towering over Union Square&hellp; and especially all over the Powell Street Muni Metro station, where each pillar and wall space had a pink silhouette iPod ad. Looking at the population, either the advertising is working or it's unnecessary. Every third person, it seemed, was wearing the telltale white earphones. A good number of them had their iPods out, proud and visible.
Oh, and for all my "I can't imagine watching a Video iPod" talk, I never considered: subway ride. If someone else was doing the driving to work for me, I could totally imagine catching up on Desperate Housewives during the commute, before I faced the water-cooler gang on Monday.
