So, over the weekend, we get this story about people at a Starbucks drive-through paying for the drink of the person behind them, in a "pay it forward" manner, all day. This isn't the first time I've heard this kind of story (I think I even saw it printed on a Starbucks cup once), and a barista friend said that this kind of thing happens more often than not.
What was unique, though, was that the media somehow got called in … and they were even able to locate and interview the guy who started the chain. I know I'm a cynic when it comes to PR and marketing spin — a known job hazard for me, but this one just sounded a bit too made-for-TV. (Hey, I'm all for random acts of kindness — just don't try to use it to sell me something.)
And I'm not alone in thinking this ….
I've done this several times in the past.....and you have reminded me that IT'S TIME TO DO IT AGAIN....and again, and again. Happy Holidays to you, my friend. Rumor has it that you were spotted with the likes of the Orlando Bloggers recently.....good for you!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you about the media and potential for salesmanship. Regardless, it is a cool idea.
