Hello?

The cube across from mine — kindly separated by a row of filing cabinets, so it's not like an extension of my cube — has a ghost inhabitant. I don't think I've ever seen anyone sitting at the desk, but the computer is on and at the Windows 2000 "workstation locked" screen all the time. (Said individual has chosen to "tile" the blue-sky background from Win95, to boot.) I have never seen a screensaver on this machine. The environmentalist in me is sorely tempted to go shut the thing off — at least the monitor.

Addding to my sense of "where is everybody," Daniel is off today, and Bj has been sporting a creative "away" message on her AIM account since sometime before lunch. <sigh> I could really use a good Wolfing right about now.
