TP Tales

Tonight was grocery-shopping night for the week. After dodging everyone buying last-minute lottery tickets, I went up and down the aisles, passing the endcap advertising Angel Soft toilet paper, 2 packages for $9. I remembered we were nearly out, but decided to look over the entire brand selection. Lo and behold, the usual for our household, Charmin, was 2 for $7.49 (this being the 24-roll megapack). Regular price: also $7.49. I presumed that it was actually a buy-one-get-one-free deal with that pricing, so I went ahead and grabbed two packs. (It's not like we won't eventually use it, and it's not going to spoil.)

I get to the checkout, and each rings up at $7.49. Separately. I point out the 2-fer deal, and a front-end manager goes scurrying back to verify. She came back, sign in hand so it doesn't happen again.

Here's the fun part. I didn't pay $14.98 (as it scanned), and I didn't pay $7.49 (the temporarily mis-posted price). I paid $3.75, total, for both. Publix's promise: if it scans wrong, you get one free, and the other at the correct price. So I only had to pay half of the $7.49 price. Bargain!
