Let me start by saying: by no stretch of the imagination am I "popular."
And yet, somehow, I found myself invited to four different soirées this past weekend — over only two nights. Friday was Jorge's big first-annual cocktail party in his new house (complete with Key Limers!), as well as Jerry's surprise 30th birthday bash (well-planned by husband Mark). I couldn't miss either one of them, so we hit one and then the other (in reverse order of the original plan due to a late departure from home). Saturday night's invites were for another surprise birthday party (of a neighbor and gym acquaintance), which ended up being at the home of one of Dan's acquaintances of years past, and Brian C's annual spring theme party — this year, "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" Prom 1984. Given the need for themed attire, party-hopping was less of an option, so we opted just for the Prom.
This weekend, I think I'm looking forward to a completely unplanned time, perhaps to include time spent in the dark, alone, listening to classical music, and recharging the old social batteries.
