When the new film of The Phantom of the Opera came out last year, they (naturally) released a new soundtrack album. Aside from the fact that I can't stand the Phantom's singing voice in the film, I already own the original cast album, so there was no reason to purchase it again. Besides, I could get the one new song, Learn To Be Lonely, on iTunes.
This past week, iTunes posted the "Expanded Edition" of the movie soundtrack, which somehow features fewer tracks from the film, but adds three dance remixes of the title song by Junior Vasquez. But here's the kicker: you can only buy these remixes by purchasing the whole album for $19.99 &mdash $10 more than the album that doesn't include them.
Note to Junior: Not only did you mix using the bad-Phantom voice, but dear, it's all been done before. (And, if I may be so bold: done better.)
I still will always love the Phantom dance routine and music from Mannequins.......oh the memories of many queens lip-sinking and acting out all the moves right along with the dancers. I was one of them (the queens that is, not the dancers)
ReplyDeleteYes. The Phantom's voice was nothing to write home about. And he wasn't really deformed. More like a mild case of exema.
