I'm over Will Ferrell. Of the 20 or so released films he's credited with at IMDB, I will admit to enjoying two (the Austin Powers ones), and he had a minor role in that series.
Now, I find he is starring in two upcoming films of otherwise great potential: Bewitched and The Producers. For Bewitched, he plays the character of Darren (actually, he plays someone playing Darren) — and from the teaser trailer alone, I keep thinking, "why??". Was Ashton Kutcher not available?
In The Producers, Ferrell has the role of Franz Liebkind ("Heil you-know-who!") — ok, I can actually picture this working a bit better, but still, why?
And... didn't we hear a while back that Ms. Kidman turned down the role of Ulla in The Producers because of her Bewitched filming commitments? (I won't even comment about casting Uma Thurman as Ulla. "Now, Ulla belts...") Why, oh why, could that not have been true for Mr. Ferrell as well?
I don't know why they just didn't get the original Franz and Ula to play the parts. I mean, Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick have enough "star power" that they don't need to throw in other big-name stars.
