Who Are These People?

As follow-up to the garage-door-opener incident: Today is repair-appointment day. The appointment had been 8a-noon, but we got a call last night moving it to 1-5p. (Actually, the call rescheduling it was followed by a computer-generated call reconfirming the original time. I called back to figure it all out and got hung up on by the automated queue. Dan called back, got a person, and confirmed the new, later appointment time. All this from a trusted, national department store. But I digress.)

If the appointment windows are 1-5p, you have to figure SOMEONE, somewhere, is in the early part of that, right? And yet, no one you ever talk to raves about how they were first on the list.

I say this because I just got a call from the driver, and he should be here in about an hour... and a half. (That's actually how he said it, complete with his own pause for dramatic effect.)

Yup. 5:00, nearly straight up. Glad I rushed home at noon.

UPDATE: They arrived at precisely 5:03 p.m. and were gone before 5:30 — and I have the receipt to prove it.

  1. And I thought that BHN (cable company) was bad, I think this garage-door company is worst.

  2. Yes, I certainly didn't experience this particular company's "softer side."

  3. For what it's worth, when I moved into Chez A. the company formerly known as Time Warner Cable was like an hour early for my installation "if that's OK."

And there was no daughter (girlfriend?) in the fetal position either!

  4. I love those 4-6 hour windows service places give you. You might as well take the whole friggin' day off with how dependable they are. And, yes, we 've had the repairman show up BEFORE the scheduled time. For compensation they should at least send the hot ones to our house...and make them do the work stripped to their underwear. I think that's a fair trade. ;-)
