A new addition to Eric's favorite-music collection: Hayley Westenra's Odyssey. I got hooked when her song "Never Saw Blue" was the free iTunes single-of-the-week. (They don't call it the Discovery Download for nothing.) Sometimes she strikes me as a little too young-sounding, or a little too breathy, but I really enjoy the style of her music. Enough so, in fact, that I came to a conclusion last night:
In addition to the Lacrymosa from Mozart's Reqiuem, I want her "Ave Maria" to be performed at my funeral. (Because, of course, I'm going to have a symphony orchestra and chorale at my funeral. Right. Whatever.)
(This from the guy who hates people to make a big deal of his birthday or other recognition-ish things. I'd rather just keep on keepin' on and fade into the woodwork whenever possible. But since I won't really have to be much aware of what's going on at my own funeral, ya'll can make whatever production of it you want.)
A long as I'm planning this funereal fantasy, please make note that I'd like Hayley's vocals to be performed by a countertenor or boy soprano. Thanks.
What? No castrati to sing at your funeral? ;-)
ReplyDeleteUm, not so much.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, I can't tell if that would be irony or comic justice.
Oooh! I hope I am invited... I vote for the boy soprano!
ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of birthday's, I know that yours is coming up :-). Get ready Orlando it's time to Celebrate :-).......
