Ahead Of My Time

It is very, very rare that I end up too far out ahead of the curve. But it struck me as funny that CNN.com is just getting around to reporting on the "trend" of people forgoing traditional watches and instead relying on the clocks on their cell phones.

I haven't worn a watch on a regular basis since 1998, when I was outdoors a lot doing my theme-park retail management gig, and realized I was wearing a company-issued pager that displayed the time. I reasoned I didn't need two time-telling devices on me, and I didn't want the watch-stripe tan line.

Now, if I could just get them to bite the bullet and replace my current 2-way pager with a BlackBerry, I could maybe even stop carrying my cell phone during the work day….

  1. ...But remember... if you get that BlackBerry, it will affect your "work-life" balance even more! They will NEVER leave you alone!

  3. I LOVE my crackberry - I feel so naked without it - and it doesn't leave a tan line either!

  4. I'd like to be important enough to carry a Crackberry.

But then again, it would mean the end of any overtime. Not a fair trade-off.
