Fueling Speculation

In an article about rising gasoline costs, the local paper includes this phrase (emphasis mine):
Concerns about gas shortages over the heavy summer driving season have also fueled speculation in wholesale gas and crude oil markets.
An article about gas that has the word "fueled" in a non-fuel-related context? One wonders if the writer heard his own personal rimshot when he penned the line.

In related news, we heard on TV yet another explanation for higher gas costs: the cost of transporting gas has gone up. Yes, you read that right: since gas prices have gone up, it costs more to fuel gas-delivery trucks. Oy.

  1. My cynical viewpoint: the people who control the oil also control the media. The truth will not be known in the near future.
