Oh How The Years Go By

Can you believe that three years ago all we heard about was the Y2K bug? Or that we celebrated a New Year with a mentality of "gee, look, all countries can get along if we want to." That's a far cry from today, isn't it?

Today we sit here on the brink of global war. The messages of peace and harmony of three years ago (not to mention personal prosperity — where did that go?) seem a lifetime away. And, not to sound Apocalyptic or anything, but I have to admit the slightest sense of paranoid concern when I see how many countries are taking an aggressor's stance with each other, and then hear news of what may be the first human clone. It's hard not to feel end-of-days-ish.
