With the weather and other circumstances, I didn't go out this afternoon as I had planned. Instead, I stayed in and watched one of my favorite movies,
The Broken Hearts Club. I've made passing reference to this film
before, but two things lept out at me this time:
- It refers to hair cuts as "gay man's therapy." I need a better stylist. (We won't talk about how the local salon put up signs today saying they would reopen tomorrow. These signs were not there yesterday. I'm on the verge of cutting my own hair.)
- The lead character, Dennis, spoke one line that just rang true:
At least six times a year I threaten to [move]... but then something happens: my birthday, summer parties, Christmas, a great night of dancing and I'm with [my friends], and suddenly... I can't imagine being anywhere else. So I stay.
And now I have your movie to watch sometime this week. And yes I'm staying here with my family (that's all my friends). There is no place better that with friends :-)
