If you've ever taken one of the more common personality/temperament tests, you may have encountered the question about your approach to weekend to-do lists — do you like them, or do they leave you cold?
Regardless of how I feel about them, creating a to-do list for the past weekend was a survival necessity. With three Chorus concerts (and associated travel, arrival, rehearsal and warm-up time), and assorted holiday goings-on, a full 24 hours of my time awake this weekend were already spoken for. (We won't make mention of the decision to stay out late after Saturday's concert. Ahem.)
So, I spent about five minutes Friday (as the time management experts advise) compiling the really-exciting list of things I had to do, mostly Saturday. Haircut. Laundry. Wrap and ship gifts for family back home (and locate final item to be bought/wrapped/shipped). Believe it or not, I managed to do everything on Saturday that I needed to.
Fortunately, I kept the list realistic. I mean, it's not like I included decorating the tree (perhaps this Saturday?) or sending the Christmas cards (um... New Year's cards, anyone?). I waited to try an oil change for the car until this Saturday. Then there are a few things that I'll need to try and squeeze in over lunch today, like buy the next item in a series of gifts for various charitable-toy drives to which I'm connected, and buy (no, not make &mdash please) a dessert for a potluck tonight. And although my dance card for the next four nights is booked, I'll need to find time to do laundry each night — I'm staffing a 3-day event at work this week, and they provided us each with a single shirt that must be worn each day.
That cruise is looking more and more attractive each day.
Whew; I'm tired after reading about all that! Hope you're having fun, too. :)
